What to Post on Social Media as a New Travel Agent

Jul 03, 2025

If you’re a brand-new travel agent, social media can feel like one big question mark.

What do I post?
Do I need to be salesy?
Do I have to be on camera?

Take a deep breath. You don’t need to go viral, and you definitely don’t need to be perfect.

You just need to start showing up in a way that feels like you: warm, helpful, and consistent.

Here’s what to focus on:

1. Start With Connection, Not Selling

People don’t want to be sold to, they want to feel seen and understood.

Your first few posts should introduce you, your travel story, and why you’re excited about this new chapter. Share the kinds of trips you love to plan and the people you love to help.

Think of it as an invitation, not a pitch.

2. Share Helpful, Bite-Sized Tips

As you train, research, or explore new destinations, you’re picking up little gems that are valuable to your audience.

Post quick tips like:

  • “3 things I always pack for a cruise”
  • “Disney dining opens 60 days out, set a reminder. Better yet, have your travel agent do it for you!”

Short, helpful content positions you as someone who knows their stuff, even if you’re new.

3. Show the Behind-the-Scenes

You don’t need a portfolio full of client trips to start posting. You’re already doing the work of building your business, and that’s worth sharing.

Snap a photo of your course workbook, your workspace, or even a moment that made you feel proud or inspired. Let people come along for the ride.

One easy, engaging thing to share? A supplier course you’ve just completed. Snap a photo of the certificate or share a quick takeaway from the training. It shows your audience that you’re serious about staying informed and that you're learning the best options for their next trip.

You don’t have to be an expert to start showing up as a professional. Just share what you’re learning along the way.

The more you share your journey, the more your audience roots for you.

4. Be Consistent (Even if It’s Simple)

You don’t need to post every day, but you do need to post regularly.

Start with two to three posts a week that rotate between connection, education, and inspiration. Don’t overcomplicate it. Just show up in a way that feels doable and real.

Over time, your consistency will build recognition, trust, and momentum.
