Feeling Like an Imposter? You’re More Ready Than You Think
May 01, 2025
That whisper of doubt in your head. The one that says, “Who am I to do this?” It shows up for nearly every new travel advisor I meet.
You scroll through Instagram and see polished profiles, stunning itineraries, and seasoned agents who look like they have it all figured out. Meanwhile, you’re still trying to understand how commissions work or what a host agency even is. And that little voice kicks in: “I don’t know enough. I’m not ready. I’m not legit.”
Here’s the truth: you are more ready than you think.
Imposter syndrome loves to pop up when we’re doing something new and meaningful. But feeling like a beginner doesn’t mean you’re in the wrong place. It means you’re growing.
In Module 1 of my course, I talk a lot about this idea. When I started out, my goal was one booking a month. I didn’t have a big social following or fancy tools. I had a desire for more freedom, a love for travel, and a willingness to figure it out step by step.
And that’s really all you need to get started: heart, a willingness to learn, and a clear path forward.
The truth is, clients don’t need you to be perfect. They need you to be thoughtful, curious, and committed to serving them well. That’s what builds trust. That’s what keeps them coming back.
So if you’re doubting whether you belong in the travel industry, pause for a moment and ask yourself this: Do I care about helping people have better travel experiences? Am I willing to learn what it takes to help them? If the answer is yes, you’re in the right place.
Inside Travel Genius Coaching, we break it all down so you never have to feel like you’re pretending. You’ll learn the ins and outs of how the industry works, how to serve clients with confidence, and how to build a business that actually supports the life you want.
So the next time that imposter voice pipes in? Smile and say, “I see you but I’m doing it anyway.”
Because ready or not, you’re already on the path.
And I’m here to walk it with you.
