How Travel Agents Get Paid

Most of your income will come from commissions paid by travel suppliers like cruise lines, resorts, and tour companies. You don’t charge the client extra, they pay the same price they’d see online (or less, due to travel agent promotions)! You simply get paid for helping them choose the right fit and handle the details.

You may also charge planning fees, especially as you gain experience or offer custom itineraries. 

So, What Can You Expect?

Income depends on your time, niche, and client base. But yes, you can earn real income. Some agents earn a few hundred dollars a month as a side hustle. Others earn six figures per year running a full-time business.
